President Pahor receives the Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, received Zhang Gaoli, the Vice Premier of the People’s Republic of China, who is currently on a working visit to Slovenia. The visit of the Chinese Vice Premier is taking place within the context of the 25
th anniversary of bilateral relations between Slovenia and China.
President Pahor and Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli first spoke about the bilateral cooperation between their countries and agreed that relations were very good, friendly and open. President Pahor noted that China was Slovenia’s main trading partner in Asia and that visits at such a high level offer new opportunities for cooperation and intensification of business relations between the countries, mainly in trade and investments. The President emphasised that Slovenia supported good relations between the European Union and China.
The Slovenian President and the Chinese Vice Premier spoke about the possibilities of further improving economic cooperation between the two countries. They agreed that opportunities arise particularly in information technology and telecommunications, automobile industry, energy, the environment, agriculture and tourism. President Pahor also highlighted cultural cooperation between the countries.
The discussion partners advocated the intensification of dialogue between Slovenia and China in the fields of politics and economics, and they agreed on the need for a further exchange of high level visits.
The Slovenian President and the Chinese Vice Premier also discussed the current multilateral topics dealing with security and political issues.
