The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Borut Pahor, and Ms Tanja Pečar today received Their Imperial Highnesses Prince and Princess Akishino of Japan at Strmol Castle.

The President and Ms Pečar presented the history of the castle and the distinguished guests enjoyed the beauty of nature from the terrace.

The lunch hosted by the presidential couple was followed by a sightseeing visit to the city of Ljubljana. The President of the Republic and the distinguished guests took a walk through the streets of Ljubljana, chatted to passers-by and were received at the Slovene Door to Ljubljana Cathedral by Metropolitan Archbishop of Ljubljana Msgr Anton Stres. They then took the funicular railway to Ljubljana Castle and enjoyed the view of the city from the top of the castle tower.
