The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, receives the 2014 Isa-beg Ishakoviĉ international award

Today, 24 March 2014, the Office of the President of the Republic of Slovenia was officially notified that the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, has been selected as this year’s recipient of the 2014 Isa-beg Ishakoviĉ international award. This prestigious award is presented each year by a society of distinguished academics in Bosnia and Herzegovina to foreign statesmen and women for their contribution to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The award is named after Isa-beg Ishakoviĉ, who founded the city of Sarajevo in 1462.

In his citation of the award for the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, the president of the Klepsidra Society Amel Suljoviĉ, especially emphasised the friendly, historical and cultural ties between Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the President’s support for the development of Sarajevo and conservation of cultural heritage, and his dedication to the comprehensive development of the city and the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Last year, this important award went to the President of the Republic of Austria, Heinz Fischer.
The award ceremony is traditionally held at the Sarajevo National Theatre in the presence of the highest state representatives, and broadcast live on television. The ceremony is expected to take place in late spring.
