President Pahor concluded his participation at the Summit of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (IOF) with several meetings in support of Slovenia's candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the Security Council 2024-2025

President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today concluded his participation in the 18th Summit of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (IOF) in Djerba, Tunisia. This is the first time that a Slovenian President has attended the OIF Summit.
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, addressed the meeting on digitisation and artificial intelligence, one of the two main themes of this year's Summit. The 18th Francophonie Summit was entitled 'Connectivity in Diversity: digitisation, a vector of development and solidarity in the Francophone space' and was chaired by the President of the Republic of Tunisia, Kais Saied. It is an important meeting, which, among other things, marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of this international organisation and adopts important strategic documents for its future work.
President Borut Pahor held several bilateral meetings in support of Slovenia's candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the Security Council for 2024-2025. Among others, President Pahor met yesterday with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Vice President of the Republic of Benin Mariam Chabi Talata, IOF Secretary General Lousie Mushikiwabo and Qatari Minister and President of the National Library Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari.
Today, President Borut Pahor held bilateral meetings with the Vice President of Vietnam, Vo Thi Anh Xuan, and Anna Bossman, who is leading the Ghanaian delegation at the meeting. The Slovenian President also met with several other leaders from IOF Member States.

The IOF, to which Slovenia has observer status, has a total of 88 member states and governments (54 full members, 7 associate members and 27 observers). The IOF is currently chaired by Tunisia, which is also a founding member. The Summit is the highest authority of the IOF and meets every two years.
