Uroš Krek, MSc
Secretary-General



The President of the Republic, Dr Danilo Türk, appointed Uroš Krek as Secretary-General of the Office of the President of the Republic on 13 January 2011.

Between 2008 and 2011, he held the office of State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia. Prior to that, from 2005 to 2008, he was employed at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, where he was the advisor for defence preparations and the co-ordinator of the Slovenian Presidency of the European Union.

Between 1991 and 2005, Uroš Krek was employed at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia, where he was an advisor to and head of the Territorial Defence Organisation section, head of the Territorial Defence Development section, director of the Development Department, director of the Armament Department, co-ordinator of the NATO Membership Action Plan, director of the Defence Policy Department, and acting director general of the Defence Policy Directorate.

Uroš Krek was an active participant in the Slovenian Independence War in 1991. In 2000 he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the Slovenian Armed Forces and is a recipient of the Order of the Slovenian Army, as well as the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals of the Slovenian Army.

In 2001, he completed his Master's degree on national security strategy at the National Defence University in the USA. He was also a student of the Senior Executive Course at the George C. Marshall Center and a student of the Senior Defence Resource Planning Course at the Naval Postgraduate School in the USA.

Uroš Krek was born in Kranj on 30 August 1966.

Mojca Seliškar Toš
Chief of the Cabinet


The President of the Republic, Dr Danilo Türk, appointed Mojca Seliškar Toš the Head of the Office of the President of the Republic on 23 December 2007.

From 2001 to December 2007, Mojca Seliškar Toš worked as the secretary of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ljubljana; since 2004 she was also a procurator of the Institute of Comparative Law at the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana. In March 2006 she was elected the Secretary-General of the Association of Slovenian Lawyers Societies.

From 1997 to 1999 she acted as an institutional counsellor in the programme PHARE SL9602-02 “Public Administration Reform in Slovenia”; after the end of the programme she was appointed a state undersecretary at the Office for the Organisation and Development of the Public Administration within the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia.

While working at the Public Administration Institute at the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana she became a member of the National Project Council and the secretary-general of the Slovenian and Swiss project Developing Slovenia’s Capacity to Modernise its Public Administrative System”, and the deputy editor-in-chief of the scientific journal "Javna uprava" (Public Administration).

After the completed secondary school and law school, Mojca Seliškar Toš worked for a brief period in a law firm, and became the secretary of the mentioned Institute in 1993.

Mojca Seliškar Toš was born on 22 May 1965 in Ljubljana.

Franc Hočevar, MSc
Adviser to the President of the Republic on Health and Social Care and Humanitarian Issues


The President of the Republic, Dr Danilo Türk, appointed Franc Hočevar Msc as Adviser on Health and Social Care and Humanitarian Issues on 28 December 2007. From 2005 to 2007, Franc Hočevar MSc worked as adviser to the director of the Institute for Rehabilitation; in 2004 and 2005 he was the director-general of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana.

Between 1999 and 2002 he worked as Adviser to the President of the Republic Milan Kučan; before that (from 1984 to 2004) he was the director of the Institute for Rehabilitation. From 1978 to 1984 Franc Hočevar MSc was the deputy chairman of the Republic Committee for Health and Social Care; from 1970 to 1973 he was the head of the study and research centre and the youth club centre at the presidency of the Youth Association of Slovenia.

He completed his masters degree at the Faculty of Economics (1996) where he graduated in 1992, specialising in the management field. In 1973 he graduated from High School of Defectology in Zagreb; in 1968 he graduated from the Academy of Education in Ljubljana. He completed secondary school for dental technology in Ljubljana in 1965 after having attended primary school at Mokronog.

Since 2005 he has worked as a lecturer at the School of Managers in Social Care; before that (from 2001) he was a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Maribor and a professor
(1974-1984) at the High School of Social Work.

Franc Hočevar MSc was born on 4 July 1946 at Gorenje Jesenice.

Boštjan Lajovic
Adviser to the President of the Republic on Public Relations


On 1 June 2010, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, appointed Boštjan Lajovic as Public Relations Adviser.

From July 2009 to the present, Boštjan Lajovic was employed at the Public Relations Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 1988 to 2009, he worked as a journalist for various media. At the beginning of his professional career, he covered domestic politics for Radio Slovenia (Radio Slovenija); he was editor of the daily service at the Slovenian Press Agency (Slovenska tiskovna agencija); and he covered foreign policy and defence issues for the daily Republika. He then worked for the broadcaster POP TV as anchor and editor of the news programme 24UR and for six months also as acting director of all news programmes. Afterwards he was anchor of the news programmes Dnevnik and Odmevi for Television Slovenia (Televizija Slovenija) and, at the same time, for four years was assistant editor of the news programmes. He continued his career in journalism as managing editor of the weekly Mladina online.

He is co-author of web pages about two poets, Dr France Prešeren and Josip Murn, prepared in cooperation with his colleagues and commissioned by the Slovenian Ministry of Culture; from 2002 to 2008 he wrote weekly columns for the Trieste daily Primorski dnevnik.

He holds a university degree in Slovene language and literature and the sociology of culture.

Boštjan Lajovic was born on 27 February 1962 in Ljubljana.

Ladislav Lipič
Adviser to the President of the Republic on defence matters


On 5 December 2008, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, appointed Ladislav Lipič as his adviser on defence matters.

From 2006 to his appointment as adviser on defence and military issues, Mr Lipič held the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia to the Republic of Hungary and the Republic of Bulgaria with its seat in Budapest.

He graduated in defence studies from the Faculty of Sociology, Political Science and Journalism of the University of Ljubljana.

In 1977, he was employed at the Territorial Defence Municipal Staff of Murska Sobota; in the fall of 1990, he assumed the duties of Assistant to the Commander for Logistics in the Territorial Defence of Eastern Styria, headquartered in Maribor; in 1994, he was appointed Commander of the Territorial Defence of Eastern Styria.

Mr Lipič was one of the initiators of the manoeuvre structure of national defence in the Pomurje region and was awarded the Manoeuvre Structure of National Defence (MSNZ) Badge. He took an active part in the War for Slovenia in 1991.

In 1998, he was one of the commanders in charge of the military exercise Cooperative Adventure Exchange (CAE 98) of NATO and partner countries’ units, which took place in Slovenia, and was commander for logistic support during the exercise. He was the head lecturer at the seminar entitled “Logistic exchange of information”, held in preparation for the CAE 98 exercise. In cooperation with the Logistics Management Institute from the United States, he and his colleagues laid the groundwork for implementation of the tasks of the host country.

On 1 December 2000, he was appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces. From January to 1 March 2001, he held the office of State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia and was then appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces. On 20 May 2003, he was promoted to the rank of Major General.

Mr Lipič has been commended and decorated for his work a number of times. He is a recipient of numerous decorations and medals, such as the Gold Medal of General Maister with Swords, Gold Medal of General Maister, Gold Medal of the Slovenian Armed Forces, and the Golden Order for Services in the Military or Security Field of the Republic of Slovenia. In 2003, he received the “Knight of Hungarian Culture” decoration from the Republic of Hungary. In 2004, the United States of America awarded him the Legion of Merit. In the same year he was also conferred the title Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour) by the French Republic.

Ladislav Lipič was born on 30 November 1951 in Kot.

Tatjana Miškova
Adviser to the President of the Republic on Diplomatic Affairs


On 1 August 2010, the Slovenian President, Dr Danilo Türk, appointed Ms Tatjana Miškova as his Advisor on Diplomatic Affairs.

Ms Miškova has worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1995.

From 2006 to 2010, she was First Secretary and Deputy Head of the Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tel Aviv. She actively participated in various formal and informal working groups and was chef de file for the European Union, responsible for addressing the issues encountered by children in armed conflicts.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she covered Middle Eastern issues in the period from 1995 to 2005. Ms Miškova has repeatedly held the function of Deputy of the Head of the Department for Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Oceania. She was also a representative of the Republic of Slovenia with the Geneva Initiative for the settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Before taking up employment at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tatjana Miškova worked as a volunteer with refugee children from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Ljubljana Centre for Refugees.

She speaks English, Spanish, Serbian, Croatian and Macedonian fluently, and has a passive knowledge of French.

Tatjana Miškova was born on 21 April 1970 in Ljubljana.

Franci Perčič
Adviser to the President of the Republic on Economic Issues

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, appointed Franci Perčič as his adviser on 23 December 2007.

From 1994 to 2006, Mr Perčič worked as an adviser to the CEO of Petrol d. d.

Since 1975, he has been engaged in various activities in industry, primarily in the areas of project management and organisation, public communication, marketing and media.

He is a lawyer by profession.

Franci Perčič was born on 5 April 1953 in Cerklje na Gorenjskem.

Nataša Brenk, MSc
Deputy Secretary General

On 1 January 2012, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, appointed Nataša Brenk as Deputy Secretary General in the President's Office.

From March 2010 until her appointment to this post, she was employed in the president's office as Assistant Secretary General for legal affairs.

Previously, Ms Brenk had worked as a legal advisor in the Information Commissioner's office from 2008. She was in charge of appeal procedures in cases involving access to public information, and drafted the Information Commissioner's opinions related to the protection of personal data.

In 2005, she was employed by the Government Office for European Affairs, where she, in her capacity as a lawyer, was responsible for drafting documents covering the areas of labour and public procurement law. Before assuming this post, i.e. since 1999, she performed similar tasks with the Government Public Relations and Media Office.

In 1999, she graduated from the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana and subsequently successfully defended her master's thesis at the same faculty in 2007. In 2008, she also passed the national bar examination.

Nataša Brenk was born on 27 July 1975 in Ljubljana.
