President of the Republic of Slovenia attends state ceremony in Poland

President of the Republic of Slovenia Danilo Türk attends the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the re-establishment of independence of the Republic of Poland and lays a wreathe at the Ghetto Heroes Monument in Warsaw (FA BOBOThe President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, attended the celebration today of the 90th anniversary of the re-establishment of independence of the Republic of Poland held in Warsaw. Besides the President of Slovenia, the ceremony was attended by the presidents and/or heads of delegations of Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Montenegro, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Georgia, Croatia, Iraq, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Hungary, Macedonia, Germany, Netherlands, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Serbia, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine and the European Commission.

After the event, President Türk went to the Royal Castle to visit the exhibition "Twenty years. Images of Modernity", which was inaugurated by Polish President Lech Kaczyñski. Later, Dr Türk joined the ceremonial lunch given in honour of the heads of delegations by the Polish president and his wife. As part of his visit, President Türk also visited the Warsaw Memorial Park and laid a wreathe at the Memorial to Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto.

On the margins of the ceremony, Dr Türk met with Lithuania’s President Valdas Adamkus. The two statesmen discussed the issue of bilateral relations and relations between the European Union and its neighbouring countries, in particular in respect of the situation in Georgia.
