Slovenian President concludes visit to World Economic Forum on the Middle East

Klikni za poveèavoThe President of the Republic of Slovenia today participated in the final session of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East. On the margins of the Forum, he had a meeting with the former UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair. In a lengthy in-depth discussion, Dr Türk and Mr Blair analysed the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories as well as practical measures to set up appropriate security structures and establish other conditions for Palestinian statehood. Tony Bair commended the European Union’s support for these efforts and backed the idea of strengthening the role of the European Union within the Middle East Quartet (the EU, United States, United Nations and Russian Federation) with the aim of boosting the body’s efficiency.

Today, President Türk also had meetings with the EU special envoy for the Middle East peace process, Marc Otte, the Duke of York, Prince Andrew, and the former Italian Prime Minister, Romano Prodi.
