President of the Republic receives the Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, today received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Volodymyr Ogryzko, who is on a visit to Slovenia.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister described Ukraine’s endeavours to join the Euro-Atlantic structures to the President. Mr Ogryzko presented the progress made and thanked Slovenia for its support for the prospect of Ukraine having a future in Europe, expressed on several occasions, including in Dr Türk’s speech to the European Parliament on 23 April 2008.
Dr Türk and Mr Ogryzko also discussed preparations for the visit by Ukraine’s President Viktor Yushchenko to the Republic of Slovenia in early June. They agreed that this visit will confirm the very dynamic development of relationships between the two countries and establish a foundation for furthering relations. Talks also focused on the Ukrainian interest in joining NATO and the discussions on that subject.
