Klikni za poveèavoThe President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, today attended the 17th World Council of Enterostomal Therapists (WCET) Congress being held under his patronage. In his formal address, the President pointed out that this was the first ever world congress of nursing staff to be held in Slovenia and, as such, was a great honour for nursing and the medical profession in Slovenia. Dr Türk described the congress as an excellent opportunity to promote nursing care in our country, as well as to raise Slovenia’s profile as a country with high health standards and one which is endeavouring to uphold and, where possible, upgrade these standards.

The comprehensive nursing care, the professional commitment, and the expert and responsible attitude to patient health are complemented by the care and attention given by medical staff. This contributes to a frame of mind which has a decisive influence on the efficacy of medical treatment and recovery of patients, commented Dr Türk. He added that the congress was also an excellent opportunity to exchange expert skills, to catch up with the different approaches recognised around the world, to learn about contemporary trends in nursing and medical care, to learn about modern aids and to share experience and good practices. He noted that politicians, too, could learn a great deal from experience of how to tolerate the most serious cases and situations and help patients. The Slovenian President expressed his gratitude to the congress participants for the help they gave patients, their families and society as a whole, and wished them every success at the congress.
