President of Slovenia Dr Danilo Türk visits members of the Slovenian Armed Forces in Sarajevo

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, meets the Commander of the EUFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Major General Bernhard Bair (photo: Tina Kosec/STA) After attending the ceremony commemorating the 15th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide, the President of the Republic of Slovenia and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, Dr Danilo Türk, visited the Butmir military base near Sarajevo, where he met the Commander of the EUFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Major General Bernhard Bair.

President Türk also met members of the Slovenian Armed Forces acting within the 24th contingent of the EUFOR in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In his opening address, President Türk stressed the importance of the presence of the Slovenian Armed Forces in ensuring peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the field of politics, he mentioned the need for the gradual abolition of the Office of the High Representative and, in tandem with this, a progressive strengthening of political institutions in the country.
