President of the Republic of Slovenia receives the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland

Klikni za poveèavoDr Danilo Türk, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, this afternoon received Mr Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland. They discussed Slovenia’s experience during its Presidency of the EU Council. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of the European Union in combating climate change; the fact that the European Union is establishing itself as a world leader in this area specifically during Slovenia’s Presidency was highlighted.

The two statesmen also discussed the future development of the European Union and its institutions, ratification of the Lisbon Treaty and solutions to optimise the quality of administration of the European Union. They also underlined the importance of developing relations between the European Union and neighbouring countries. Slovenia and Poland will collaborate on drafting the European Neighbourhood Policy. Good progress is expected in this area during Slovenia’s Presidency, agreed President Turk and Prime Minister Tusk.
