Working visit of the President of the Republic in Paris

The President of the Republic Dr. Danilo Türk meets the renowned French writer, diplomat and human rights activist Stéphan Frédéric Hessel (photo: Stanko Gruden/STA)The President of the Republic of Slovenia Dr. Danilo Türk started his working visit in Paris, where on Tuesday and Wednesday he will participate at the Leader's Forum on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Organisation for Economical Co-operation and Development (OECD).

On the first day of his working visit the President met the well-known French writer, diplomat and human rights activist Stéphan Frédéric Hessel, author of the best seller "Time for Outrage!". They talked about the renewed significance of social justice and engagement of civil society, as well as about challenges faced by the European Union and the crisis of global governance.
The President of the Republic Dr. Danilo Türk holds a lecture at the prestigious French Institute of International Relations (photo: Stanko Gruden/STA)The President continued his working visit by visiting the prestigious French Institute of International Relations (IFRI), where he met the Institute's Founder and Director Dr. Thierry de Montbrial and held a lecture on the topic: "20 Years After the Independence: Experience of the Republic of Slovenia (and Why We are Still Optimists)". In the evening he attended the reception organised by the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the French Republic Mrs. Veronika Stabej and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Slovenia to the OECD Mr. Andrej Rant in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Slovenia.
