President sent a letter of condolence to the President of France

Ljubljana, 20.3.2012  |  statement

President of the Republic of Slovenia sent a letter of condolence to the President of France, Nicholas Sarkozy, following the recent attacks in France.

In the letter, President Türk wrote: "Distinguished Mr President, it is with horror and outrage that I received the news about the attack on the soldiers in Montauban, and about the fatal shootings at the Ozar Hatorah School in Toulouse that claimed the lives of three innocent children and a father. In such a dramatic moment for France, I express my sincere condolences on behalf of the Slovenian people and on my own behalf, and ask you to extend our condolences to the families and friends of the victims, and to the Jewish community in France. We share their deep pain and sorrow. Any attack on children is a low act of extreme inhumanity. We must not tolerate any kind of violence against groups and institutions that represent minorities in the open society that defines Europe."
