The President supports the candidature of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for a second term in office

Today, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon informed the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, of his candidature for a second term as Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The Slovenian President has welcomed his decision and expressed his respect for the work Mr Ban Ki-moon has performed as the Secretary-General of the UN, as well as the role he has played in these difficult times, which require coordinated action by the UN and the international community.

President Dr Danilo Türk particularly emphasised the contribution Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has made in solving armed conflicts, in humanitarian actions to relieve the effects of natural disasters, in efforts made to mitigate the effects of global warming, and his efforts to reform the United Nations.

The President of the Republic of Slovenia is hoping that Ban Ki-moon will be awarded a second term as UN Secretary-General without complications.
