The Presidents assessed the relations between the two countries as being very good. They agreed that there are many more opportunities to develop relations, particularly in the exchange of any experiences that Serbia could benefit from on its path towards Euro-Atlantic structures. President Türk drew attention to the importance of the social agreement between the two countries which will enter into force on 1 November this year and will, in his opinion, have a positive influence on the overall state of relations between Slovenia and Serbia.

The two Presidents mentioned the construction of the railway corridor from Hamburg to Istanbul, (i.e. Corridor 10) as being one of the main opportunities for cooperation. President Türk also highlighted the prospect of further cooperation in the energy sector, which goes beyond national and regional frameworks. Therefore, it is essential that the Republic of Serbia – as a future member of the European Union – be included in the long-term plans of a common EU energy policy. The Slovenian President and the Serbian President of Parliament agreed that it is the duty of politicians to create a supportive atmosphere to encourage such cooperation.
