President of the Republic of Slovenia meets President of the Federal Republic of Germany

Last night the President of the Republic, Dr Danilo Türk, attended the opening ceremony of the annual summer music festival in Ludwigsburg following the invitation of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Horst Köhler. Prior to the event the presidents met on a working discussion which the German President opened by introducing the course of ratification of the Lisbon Treaty in Germany. The presidents went on to talk about other current issues of the European Union, especially the issues of ecology and combating climate change, as well as about the situation in the Western Balkans. In addition, the Presidents of Slovenia and Germany exchanged their views on the position of the European Union in the world and on strengthening its role as a global actor.
