 | Today, at Brdo pri Kranju, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, received His Majesty Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. "Slovenia appreciates the contribution made by His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to peace, stability and progress in the region and in the global context," pointed out Dr Türk after the meeting. President Türk and the King of Jordan paid special attention to the Middle East issue. The Slovenian President emphasised that he had every confidence in His Majesty’s capabilities and international reputation in his efforts towards durable peace in the Middle East.
Talks also focused on cooperation between the two countries. Dr Türk and King Abdullah assessed relations between Slovenia and Jordan as excellent, while agreeing that the two countries should endeavour to further develop cooperation, in particular in the economic area. Both stressed the still untapped potential for developing cooperation further. They also discussed cooperation on developing the Euro-Mediterranean University, for which Slovenia has proposed a seat on its own territory, as well as the position of the port of Koper and its advantages for the transit of goods from Jordan. Within the separate spouses’ programme, Mrs Barbara Mikliè Türk had a meeting with Her Majesty Rania Al Abdullah, Queen of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. |
