Slovenian and Polish Presidents and the Mayor of Warsaw open a Slovenian square in the Polish capital

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronis³aw Komorowski, and the Mayor or Warsaw, Dr Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, open a new Slovenian Square in Warsaw (photo: Stanko Gruden/STA)The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, met with the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronis³aw Komorowski, and the Mayor of Warsaw, Dr Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, to open a new Slovenian Square ("Skwer S³oweñski") in the Polish capital. The square is situated in the Warsaw district of Mokotów in the direct vicinity of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in the Republic of Poland.

He stressed that this has happened at a time when Poland and Slovenia are closer than ever before to each other and that both countries belong to values of democracy, human rights and common European prosperity.

He expressed the wish for the opening of the Slovenian Square in Warsaw to be remembered in history as a symbolic confirmation of Polish-Slovenian friendship and common efforts for a better Europe and world. The President also mentioned the 20th anniversary of Slovenian independence, which made that moment even more ceremonially important.
