EU wins Nobel Peace Prize
Ljubljana, 12.10.2012 | statement
According to the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Danilo Türk, the Nobel Peace Prize came to the right hands.
The European Union was the most successful peace project in the history of humankind. After centuries of blood-shedding conflicts, the European continent has achieved a high level of welfare, democracy, rule of law, respect of human rights and security through an irreversible integration process after the Second World War. It has also achieved irreversible peace, which is of the greatest value.
The Slovenian President emphasised that the prize gives credibility to EU efforts and also commits the EU to pursuing peace at the global level. The EU has been continuing to develop its instruments for actions in this direction, and the Nobel Peace Price is undoubtedly a great encouragement to pursue its efforts.
