Slovenian and Turkish Presidents attend a basketball match at the World Championship

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, meets the President of the Republic of Turkey, Abdullah Gül (photo: Stanko Gruden/STA)The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, paid a visit to Istanbul at the invitation of the Basketball Federation of Slovenia to attend the World Championship quarter-final basketball match between Slovenia and Turkey. President Türk took this opportunity to hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Abdullah Gül. The meeting was also attended by the Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel ®bogar.

The two Presidents focused mainly on bilateral relations between the two countries, which they assessed as being very good, and also recalled a recent successful official visit of the Turkish President to Slovenia. The Presidents then talked about the situation in the Middle East. President Gül thanked President Türk for the Republic of Slovenia's principled attitude in relation to the Palestinian issue.

After the talks, they both attended the basketball match between Slovenia and Turkey.
