President Türk Receives President of Russian Federation

The Slovenian President, Dr Danilo Türk, receives the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev (FA BOBO)The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, today received the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, who is on a working visit to Slovenia. The Slovenian and Russian Presidents attended the second leg of the play-offs for qualification for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa between Slovenia and Russia.

Dr Türk and Mr Medvedev held a bilateral meeting, where they briefly assessed the course of the match. They agreed that the first half took place in a truly sporting atmosphere.

President Türk assessed bilateral relations as excellent. He added that the relations and the negotiations on a new agreement between the European Union and the Russian Federation are moving towards a favourable conclusion, an issue that Slovenia successfully advocated during its EU Council Presidency. President Türk expressed his satisfaction with the signing of the Agreement on Cooperation in constructing the South Stream gas pipeline.
The Slovenian President, Dr Danilo Türk, receives the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev (FA BOBO)President Medvedev also positively assessed bilateral relations. According to him, today's EU-Russia Summit can be considered as a solid continuation of the positive results achieved during Slovenia's EU Council Presidency. He emphasised that the South Stream gas pipeline raises the relations between the two countries to a new level. Furthermore, he advocated harmonious development of all other areas of co-operation, particularly in the corporate sector.

President Medvedev offered an invitation to the Slovenian President to visit the Russian Federation and accepted with pleasure Dr Türk's invitation for an official visit to Slovenia.
