President congratulates winner of French presidential election

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Danilo Türk, today spoke by telephone with the President-elect of the French Republic, François Holland.

After having congratulated François Holland on his electoral victory, President Türk stressed that this sends an important signal to the European Union in its search of a new vision for development and growth.

The two statesmen agreed that Europe needs new hope, which is associated with social justice and the creation of new jobs for young people.

President Türk invited the winner of the French presidential elections to visit the Republic of Slovenia and Mr François Holland accepted the invitation with pleasure.
