The President of the Republic of Slovenia conveyed his condolences following the earthquake that struck in China

The President of the Republic of Slovenia dr. Danilo Türk sent the letter of condolences to the President of the People's Republic of China H.E. Hu Jintao following the devastating earthquake in the Chinese province of Sichuan that caused the loss of many lives. In his letter of condolences the President wrote:

"I am deeply moved by the news of the devastating earthquake which struck your country and caused the loss of so many precious lives of your citizens. Our sorrow at the tragic event due to tremendous natural forces is even greater since it is the friendly Chinese nation which has been affected. I am concerned to see the distress of the many people who have lost their nearest and dearest and who have remained homeless.

Allow me, Excellency, to express sincere condolences on behalf of all the citizens of the Republic of Slovenia and on my own behalf. Slovenia grieves with you in these difficult times. Please pass on our condolences to the grieving families of the victims and our respects to all those who are selflessly rescuing human lives and eliminating the effects of the disaster."
