President attends opening of "Europe in Postojna" event

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Danilo Türk, attended the opening of the "Europe in Postojna" event, which marked the opening of the 11th European Students Championships in Forestry Skills and the 2nd Olympics for Wood Industry Professions, a national student competition.

In his address, he highlighted the importance of forestry and the wood economy for Slovenia, its development, and for the whole of Europe. He stressed that the forest and its biodiversity are a great treasure for Slovenia, and that wood processing presents a huge opportunity for the country.

President Türk expressed his hope to all the participants in the European Students Championships in Forestry Skills and the state wood industry competition that the events would take place in the spirit of friendship and good sportsmanship, and that they would look back on them fondly in the years to come.
