President receives the Dean of the College of Cardinals at the Holy Seat

President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, received the Dean of the College of Cardinals at the Holy Seat, Cardinal Dr Angelo Sodano, who had been on a three-day visit to the Posoèje Region.

They stressed the importance of common remembrance of the suffering during the First World War and the Isonzo Front. They agreed that this historical memory is important for Europe and has to be cherished as one of the messages which help us build our common European future. They also discussed ideas for marking the forthcoming 100th anniversary of the beginning of the First World War.

The discussion also ranged over other themes, among which they highlighted the importance of development as a social category which includes the significant value of human solidarity.
