Bilateral talks of Slovenian President on the margins of the 16th Summit of Central European Heads of State

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, attends the 16th Summit of Central European Heads of State (FA BOBO)On the margins of the 16th Summit of Central European Heads of State in Novi Sad, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, held several bilateral meetings. On the first day of his visit, President Türk met the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr Lech Kaczyñski, the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano, the President of the Republic of Serbia, Boris Tadiæ, and the President of the Czech Republic, Václav Klaus. On the second day Dr Türk met the President of the Republic of Montenegro, Filip Vujanoviæ, the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Neboj¹a Radmanoviæ and the President of the Slovak Republic, Dr Ivan Ga¹paroviè.
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, meets the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr Lech Kaczyñski (FA BOBO)In their talks, President Kaczyñski was interested in the situation concerning the border dispute between Slovenia and Croatia; Mr Kaczyñski invited Dr Türk to be the guest at the Summit of the Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group to be held in September 2009 in Sopot in Poland. The main topic of their talks was further enlargement of the European Union; President Kaczyñski was also interested in President Türk's view on the reform of the Security Council of the United Nations, in particular because of his experience in managing the Security Council and his work in the United Nations over many years.
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, meets the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano (FA BOBO)President Türk spoke with President Napolitano on co-operation between the Central European states and of a common energy policy in the European Union. The two presidents exchanged information on efforts aimed at developing the gas pipeline supply in Europe. In their talks, they touched on European institutions and on bilateral co-operation between Slovenia and Italy.
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, meets the President of the Republic of Serbia, Boris Tadiæ (FA BOBO)In their long and cordial discussion, President Türk and the host, President Tadiæ assessed co-operation between the countries and in particular commended the successful development of economic relations. They further stressed the significance of visa liberalisation for Serbia’s drawing closer to the European Union and President Tadiæ thanked President Türk for support provided by Slovenia in this respect. The two presidents established that the time had come for raising the relationship between Slovenia and Serbia to a new level and, in this context, organising an official visit of President Tadiæ in the Republic of Slovenia concentrating mainly on economic issues. Their talks also dealt with the co-operation of the two countries in the area of culture, issues concerning the succession of the former Yugoslavia and the position of Serbia with regards to Kosovo.
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, meets the President of the Czech Republic, Václav Klaus (FA BOBO)President Türk devoted considerable time to discussions with President Klaus who acquainted President Türk with his impressions gained during the Czech EU Council Presidency. President Klaus highlighted, in particular, his experience of the summit meetings of the European Union with China, Russia, Japan, Pakistan and Jordan. They also discussed the future of the European Union, the Lisbon Treaty and the latest solutions concerning the Irish approach to this treaty.
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, meets the President of the Republic of Montenegro, Filip Vujanoviæ (FA BOBO)President Türk and President Vujanoviæ spoke mainly about conditions in the region. They also discussed the progress of economic projects, which have been the theme of their dialogue during recent meetings, particularly partnership projects for developing mountain tourism in northern Montenegro. The two assessed that the projects have developed successfully; however, financial co-operation for their further smooth development is required.
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, meets the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Neboj¹a Radmanoviæ (FA BOBO)President Türk and Presidency Chairman Radmanoviæ talked about visa liberalisation for Bosnia and Herzegovina with respect to the European Union, which is supported by Slovenia, and Presidency Chairman Radmanoviæ gave assurances that Bosnia and Herzegovina had met all the required conditions. They also focused on relations between the countries and the possibilities of strengthening economic co-operation. Energy represents one of main areas for the future for Bosnia and Herzegovina; there are opportunities to enhance co-operation between the countries in this area, the two agreed.
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, meets the President of the Slovak Republic, Dr Ivan Ga¹paroviè (FA BOBO)President Türk congratulated President Ga¹paroviè on his re-election in recent presidential elections in Slovakia. Their talks were devoted in particular to the situation and consequences of the economic crises in both countries, with special emphasis on the development of social entrepreneurship, measures aimed at maintaining working posts, combating unemployment, stimulating banks to offer loans to the economy, and measures aimed at increasing support for young families and preserving social transfers. President Ga¹paroviè also briefed President Türk on the Slovakian experience in introducing the euro.
