The President and Executive Director of Jordan Aviation, Mr Al-Khashman, immediately, unselfishly and keenly embraced the idea of helping the children from Gaza who suffered severe physical injuries and who could, by undergoing systematic rehabilitation, be given a chance to easier take care for themselves and lead normal lives again. He has been offering direct support to the programme by providing free flights for the children of Gaza and their escorts and medical workers.

To date, Mr Al-Khashman has enabled the transfer of 52 children, more than 20 escorts and 10 medical workers to Slovenia for rehabilitation purposes. By the end of 2012, he is willing to provide air transfer for additional 70 children who will undergo complex rehabilitation treatment in Slovenia. Mr Al-Khashman has thus become the biggest private donor of this humanitarian project and, because of his support, a much greater proportion of funds can directly be used for the rehabilitation of children than would have otherwise been possible.

Moreover, he highlighted Mr Al-Khashman's international reputation for his comprehensive cooperation in UN peacekeeping operations and the accomplishment of logistical tasks in the most challenging parts of the world. His contribution to significant, valuable and demanding humanitarian operations is so much more important because it represents understanding between cultures and religious traditions, and shows the way forward. Therefore, President Türk expressed his gratitude for his great contribution to peace and human progress.

He went on to say that President Türk has become like a father and an inspiration to these children, while embodying the responsibility of world leaders. He conveyed to him the gratitude of the Palestinian children, their families and the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas for all the attention and affection shared by the children during their stay in Slovenia. Mr Al-Khashman also thanked His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan for his support for this project.
