Brdo by Kranj, 10/02/2007 | press release
At the invitation of the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, His Royal Highness Prince of Orange, Willem Alexander, and Princes Máxima of the Kingdom of Netherlands will be officially visiting Slovenia from October 2 through 4, 2007.
The President of the Republic received the distinguished guests at Brdo pri Kranju. In a longer discussion they emphasised that the relations between both countries since Slovenia's gaining independence have at all times been very friendly and well developed in all areas. Both countries also participate in numerous projects within the framework of multilateral institutions. In talking to distinguished guests, President Drnovšek addressed the discussions taking place in the EU for the purpose of strengthening its internal cohesion and enhancing its role of a significant factor of international co-operation.
The Dutch guests were particularly interested in the opinion of the Slovene President regarding the European perspective of the Southern Balkan countries. This is indeed the issue, on which the stability and perspective of all nations and countries in this region depend. During Slovenia's EU Presidency in the coming year, this will be the focus of its attention.
