Letters of Credence presented by the Korean Ambassador

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Janez Drnovšek, today received the Letters of Credence from the Ambassador of the People's Republic of Korea, Mr. Kim Kwang Sop.
The Ambassador outlined to President Drnovšek the development of Korea that takes a positive direction and endeavours to overcome the effects of natural disasters suffered by Korea in the 90's. The Korean Ambassador said that his country strived for a peaceful settlement of disputes with South Korea; the turning point was reached at the 2000 summit meeting of leaders of both countries, opening doors for the cooperation in all areas, including humanitarian. During his audience, Ambassador Kim Kwang Sop assured President Drnovšek that Korea was in favour of peaceful resolution of disputes concerning the country's nuclear programme.
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Janez Drnovšek, said that Slovenia followed the developments on the Korean Peninsula and expressed our belief that the only way to resolve difficulties was through dialogue. He added that that was also true for the nuclear programme issue. He pointed out the dialogue as the only means to solve problems as the violence only begot violence.
At the end of the audience, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Janez Drnovšek, wished the Ambassador a lot of success in his mission and thanked him for regards extended by the Korean leaders.
