Letters of Credence presented by the Ambassador of Cyprus

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, today received the first Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus residing in Slovenia, Charalambos Panayides, who presented to him his Letters of Credence.
The President of the Republic expressed satisfaction with the decision of the Republic of Cyprus to open its embassy in Ljubljana, which is evidence of good relations existing between the countries that entered the EU at the same time and share many interests and views.
The conversation between the President and the Ambassador touched on the situation in Cyprus which is still divided and bears the consequences of the fact that this island country was subject to outside intervention that resulted in a new situation and new tensions.
Dr Janez Drnovšek wished the new Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus every success in his work and a pleasant stay in Slovenia.
