Meeting with the Latvian Prime Minister

The President of the Republic, Dr. Janez Drnovšek, met today with the Latvian Prime Minister Aigars Kalvitis. They discussed the cooperation between the two countries and found their mutual relations to be excellent, noting, however, that there was room for further development in the economic area. The topics of their discussion also included cooperation between Latvia and Slovenia in their capacity of EU and NATO members in a multilateral area, resulting in a conclusion that the two countries have a similar position on international issues.
The Prime Minister Aigars Kalvitis was also interested in the view of the President of the Republic, Dr. Janez Drnovšek, on future development of South Eastern Europe, particularly in the countries of the former Yugoslavia.
