President Drnovšek visits Bled
Ljubljana, 05/11/2007 | press release
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovešk, paid a visit today to the municipality of Bled, where he met with Mayor Janez Fajfar.
The Mayor explained the difficulties faced in Bled, one of the most beautiful Slovenian tourist destinations, which attracts large numbers of foreign tourists throughout the year. Of particular importance in this context is the Bled bypass road, which the town has been striving for years to get. A bypass road would relieve problems resulting from heavy freight and passenger traffic through the centre of Bled.
Furthermore, the Mayor presented several nature conservation projects to President Drnovšek. He explained that all new construction in Bled is carried out in compliance with the town's development plan, directed towards the preservation of natural assets and furthering high-quality tourism. The Mayor highlighted the fact that many tourists come to Bled from abroad and that their impressions of the whole of Slovenia are formed through their experiences there.
President Drnovšek expressed his particular support for the endeavours to find a solution for the construction of the Bled bypass road as soon as possible.
