President Drnovšek receives Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea
Ljubljana, 12/05/2005 | press release
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, today received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Ban Ki-moon.
During their talks, Dr Drnovšek and Mr Ban Ki-moon determined that there were still many possibilities for the development of relations, in political, economic and other fields. Korea’s Foreign Minister commended Slovenia’s progress and stressed that its membership in the European Union offered greater possibilities for co-operation between Slovenia and Korea. Mr Ki-moon informed Dr Drnovšek of the situation in the country and the relations between North Korea and South Korea. He then went on to explain that, lately, positive developments regarding co-operation had been noted, and asked for the support of Slovenia – as a Member State of the European Union – in this process.
President Drnovšek said he was pleased with the progress in the co-operation between North Korea and South Korea, adding that this was the best way to continue the confidence-building between the two countries. He also assured Mr Ki-moon of Slovenia’s support in this process.
