President Drnovšek receives Letters of Credence from the Argentine Ambassador
Ljubljana, 11/07/2006 | press release
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, today received the Letters of Credence from the Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina, Mr Eugenio Maria Curia, who is stationed in Vienna and who will be a non-resident ambassador to Slovenia. President Drnovšek and Mr Curia agreed that relations between their countries were good and that Slovenians in Argentina established an important tie between Slovenia and Argentina. They both welcomed the Social Security Agreement between the two countries which has reached its final phase.
Co-operation between Slovenia and Argentina in culture is very close but many opportunities to strengthen co-operation in the economic and other fields remain unexploited. Slovenia’s presidency of the European Union in 2008 will offer a good opportunity to develop relations between the two countries.
Ambassador Curia briefly presented the political and economic situation in Argentina. President Drnovšek reiterated his invitation to the Argentine President to visit Slovenia and wished Mr Curia every success in his work.
