Letters of Credence from the Ambassador of Australia

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, today received the Letters of Credence from the Ambassador of Australia, Mr Peter James Shannon, who is stationed in Vienna and who will be a non-resident ambassador to Slovenia.
President Drnovšek described relations between Slovenia and Australia as good, friendly and developed in all fields. Mr Shannon emphasised the active role of the Slovenian community in a multicultural Australia.
They also touched upon the importance of the environment protection. In the light of this, Mr Shannon told President Drnovšek that Australia was experiencing the consequences of climate change and was making an effort to adjust to these changes.
At the end Mr Shannon expressed his pleasure at being able to work in Slovenia. President Drnovšek expressed his desire to continue with friendly relations and wished Mr Shannon every success in his mission and a pleasant stay in Slovenia.
