The JEM group in Slovenia today

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, will later today receive Mr Ahmed Tugod Lissan, head of the negotiators of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), and Mr Abdullahi Osman El-Tom, member of this movement’s leadership, as well as Mr Ahmed I. Diraige, head of the Sudan Federal Democratic Alliance and a former governor of Darfur. The intent of the talks of President Drnovšek will be to look into the possibility of ameliorating the political, security and humanitarian situation in Darfur after the partial signature of the Darfur Peace Agreement in Abuja. President Drnovšek will continue the talks tomorrow when Dr Ibrahim Mohamad Khalil, Head of the JEM, arrives in Slovenia.
