Ljubljana, 04/29/2007 | press release, statement
Following the death of Ivica Račan, a respected Croatian politician and a friend of many years’ standing, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, issued the following statement:
“I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of a friend of mine for many years and a partner in complex political projects which helped Croatia and Slovenia, two friendly neighbouring countries, embark on the path of democracy and progress. I offer my heartfelt sympathy to the members of Mr Račan’s family, his colleagues and the Croatian people.
We have lost a man who was confident of the future and assumed responsibility for what he could contribute to a better future for the present as well as future generations. It is with gratitude that I remember our co-operation and the creative moments we have spent together.”
