President Drnovšek meets Macedonian President
Davos (Switzerland) , 01/26/2003 | press release
President Drnovšek, participating in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, today met the President of Macedonia, Boris Trajkovski.
The Macedonian President congratulated his Slovenian counterpart on the success Slovenia had achieved in the EU and NATO accession process. In turn, President Drnovšek emphasised that Slovenia supported Macedonian efforts to join Euro-Atlantic structures and said that that would provide the best possible guarantee of long-term stability and consolidation for the whole region. President Trajkovski agreed and stated that Macedonia considered Slovenia a model that it wished to emulate on its own path to integration in these structures.
President Drnovšek and President Trajkovski gave special attention to the development of economic relations between their two countries which, in their opinion, were intensive and, due to their large scope, of great importance for both sides. President Trajkovski stressed in particular Macedonia’s satisfaction with direct foreign investment from Slovenia, and both statesmen agreed on the existence of unutilised potential and interest in expanding economic cooperation between the countries.
President Trajkovski extended an invitation to President Drnovšek to visit Macedonia which he accepted with pleasure.
