President of the Republic receives the director of the Federal Agency of Culture and Cinematography of the Russian Federation

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Janez Drnovšek, today received the director of the Federal Agency of Culture and Cinematography of the Russian Federation, Mr. Mikhail Shvydkoy, and the delegation that visited Slovenia in the company of the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Slovenia, Mr. Mikhail Vanin.
Mr. Shvydkoy informed the President of Slovenia about the activities and plans concerning the work of the Forum for Slavic Cultures and stressed on this occasion that the Russian Federation was strongly interested that this important cultural institution having its seat in Slovenia would start functioning the way it was conceived. He further stressed that Russia is confident about the capability of Slovenia to link together artists from different Slavic countries, to encourage the “internal market” of culture and arts and to facilitate active presentation of artistic achievements by the Slavic nations and countries before a broader auditorium at international scale.
President Drnovšek gave his assurance that alike Russian president Putin, he too supported the idea and the work of the Forum for Slavic Cultures and pointed out that the institution should grow and develop in accordance with the interest of its members and supporters.
