Letter by President Drnovšek on the occasion of the 11 September Anniversary

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, today sent a letter to the US President George W. Bush on the occasion of the second anniversary of the 11 September 2001 attacks.
In the letter, President Drnovšek expressed the sincere and profound sadness with which Slovenia remembers the tragic day, when several thousand innocent people died in terrorist attacks. He stated that these attacks have brought the international community together in its resolve to defend the values of democracy and freedom by which it is united.
In his letter, President Drnovšek also called to mind the close friendship that binds Slovenia and the US, and gave assurances of continued Slovene participation in the international fight against terrorism. He furthermore called for the strengthening of the Transatlantic cooperation.
