President of the Republic Dr Janez Drnovšek feels better
Ljubljana, 06/27/2006 | press release
On Saturday 24 June 2006, at the main national celebration of the National Day, President of the Republic Dr Janez Drnovšek lost consciousness through weakness, but quickly recovered. He decided that medical attention was unnecessary and went straight home to Zaplana. This means that he was not taken away by ambulance and examined by physicians as mistakenly reported by some media.
President of the Republic Dr Janez Drnovšek became weak because of the high air temperature (it was 26 degrees Celsius at 9:00 pm that evening) and the high humidity. In addition, it must be said that the President of the Republic started activities at 2:00 pm on the Saturday and he had also been very active the previous days. It is also relevant that on the Saturday, the day of the event, the President of the Republic was fasting for the fourth successive day, which means that he had not eaten and had drunk only a little water. His feeling of weakness on Saturday should not therefore be connected with any illness. President of the Republic Dr Janez Drnovšek is still resting today, feels better, and will start activities tomorrow.
