Letters of Credence presented by the Ambassador of Belgium
Ljubljana, 10/10/2007 | press release
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, today received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, Mr. Louis Mouraux, who presented to him his letters of credence.
The President of the Republic, Dr Janez Drnovšek, emphasized that the relations between Belgium and Slovenia have been traditionally sound since the independence of our country. Both countries are “pro-European” and interested in strengthening the EU and our common living space. Dr Drnovšek has maintained permanent intensive contacts with the Prime Minister of Belgium even as the Slovenian Prime Minister and finds much pleasure in recalling that.
The new Ambassador of Belgium said that he has spent the major part of his diplomatic career as a diplomat – specialist for multilateral and in particular European issues. In consequence, he is especially interested in Slovenia’s EU Presidency and he hopes to be a useful partner in that.
The President and the new Ambassador also talked on the managing of the Kosovo issue, whereby the Ambassador stressed that no alternative to Ahtissari’s plan seems to be forthcoming. The President wished the Ambassador Louis Mouraux every success in his work and a pleasant stay in Slovenia.
