Letters of Credence presented by the French Ambassador
Ljubljana, 11/22/2006 | press release
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Janez Drnovšek, today received the Letters of Credence from the French Ambassador, Chantal de Ghaisne de Bourmont.
The President and the new Ambassador shared the opinion that the relations between the two countries were very good. They were convinced that the cooperation between the countries would strengthen, especially in the light of sharing the EU Presidency in 2008. Namely, France is to take over the Presidency from Slovenia.
President Drnovšek and French Ambassador Chantal de Ghaisne de Bourmont continued the discussion by focusing on the future of the EU. President Drnovšek mentioned the fact that the ratification process for the EU Constitutional Treaty stopped in France and, therefore, believed that France would come up with new ideas for the effective functioning of the EU in the future; he also pointed out it was important that the earliest possible agreement on the future development of the EU be achieved between its Member States.
The President and the Ambassador touched the topic of the coming presidential and parliamentary elections to be held in France in spring next year.
The President of the Republic, Dr. Janez Drnovšek, wished the French Ambassador, Chantal de Ghaisne de Bourmont, a pleasant stay in Slovenia and every success in her mission during this important period ahead of both countries.
