The President’s condolences on the death of Dr Alojzij Šuštar, retired Archbishop and Metropolitan of Ljubljana

Dr Janez Drnovšek, President of the Republic of Slovenia, conveyed his condolences on the death of Dr Alojzij Šuštar, retired Archbishop and Metropolitan of Ljubljana:
“On the death of the Archbishop Dr Alojzij Šuštar, I convey my deepest condolences. However, the grief over his loss cannot obscure the mark of goodness that he made in his life and that will accompany him after his death. In our memories, Dr Alojzij Šuštar will remain a true spiritual representative of the Catholic Church. He always maintained a superior spiritual level and was not drawn in by material or lowly political circumstances. He knew how to distance himself from the emptiness inherent in today’s civilisation and shaped his relationship with the people he met in the light of the genuine good that he felt in them.
Both the Catholic Church and the Republic of Slovenia may only wish for such people as Dr Alojzij Šuštar, as does the entire world.”
