Condolences in the aftermath of the natural disaster in the US

The President of the Republic, Dr Janez Drnovšek, sent a telegram to US President George W. Bush expressing sincere condolences on behalf of the Slovene nation and on his own behalf, following the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina that resulted in enormous loss of life and property. Dr Drnovšek also asked the US President to relay assurances of deep sympathy and solidarity to all those stricken by the catastrophe, as well as to those selflessly saving human lives and dealing with the consequences of the disaster.
