Ljubljana, 10/23/2007  |  press release

Click to enlargeThe meeting between the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway, Jens Stoltenberg, and the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, was held in a friendly atmosphere. At the beginning, the Prime Minister pointed to the similarity between the two countries regarding natural beauty, hospitality of the people and very good international relations. President Drnovšek said that he deeply appreciates Norway's international activities, which are to a large extent focused on solidarity and humanitarian aid in numerous crisis areas. He admires the level of social justice achieved by Norway, since in Norway there is none of the social unrest that characterizes many other countries. He appreciates the care for environment and sensitivity to climate change, which should also reflect in the changed behaviour of as many countries as possible, including large countries such as the USA and China.

Regarding climate change, he was of the opinion that more should be done to encourage activities for the reduction of negative impacts and that these activities can be profitable, too. Everyone should participate in this, since destructive action in one part of the world can easily result in a natural catastrophe in another.
