Holiday Greetings

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, continues to receive the greetings from numerous heads of states and governments as well as from other leaders. Among others, best wishes for the New Year were expressed by Albert, King of Belgium, the President of the French Republic, Mr Jacques Chirac, the President of Russia, Mr Vladimir Putin, the president of Croatia, Mr Stipe Mesiæ,the president of Macedonia, Mr Branko Crvenovski, the president of Latvia, Mrs Vaira Vike-Freiberga, the president of Bulgaria, Mr Georgi Parvanov, as well as by Akihito, the emperor of Japan, the prime minister of New Zealand, Ms Helen Clark, the president of Brazil, Mr Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the president of Algeria, Mr Abdelaziz Bouteflika, and the president of South Korea, Mr Kim Yong Nam.

Best wishes for the New Year were sent also by Mr Koichiro Matsuura, Director General of UNESCO, by Mrs Benita Ferrero – Waldner, European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, as well as by the Tibetan religious leader Dalai Lama and by Pavle, the patriarch of Serbia.
