Meeting with the UN Secretary-General

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, today received the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr Ban Ki-moon.

Dr Drnovšek presented his position concerning the possible solution of the Iranian crisis. As far as the Kosovo issue is concerned, the President supports the Ahtisaar plan and believes that the Security Council should take a decision on its implementation as soon as possible. The President and the Secretary-General also addressed the issue of Darfur.
President Drnovšek expressed his views on the situation and a possible political solution of the crisis which would result in deeper humanitarian consequences.
