President Dr Drnovšek congratulated the newly elected Secretary General

The President of the Republic Dr Janez Drnovšek sent his warm congratulations to the newly elected Secretary General of the United Nations Organisation, Ban Ki-moon on his being appointed as head of this world organisation.

In his congratulations, Dr Drnovšek wished Ban Ki-moon many good results in exercising this important and responsible task, and expressed his hope that he would be successful in facing the challenges of ensuring peace and stability as well as of enforcing human rights and the rule of law.

Dr Drnovšek extended to the newly elected Secretary General, who will assume his responsibilities on 1 January 2007, Slovenia’s full support in his endeavours towards a better and safer world.
