President Drnovšek receives the deputy minister of science and technology of the People’s Republic of China

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovšek, today received the deputy minister of science and technology of the People’s Republic of China, Ms Deng Nan, who is on a goodwill visit to Slovenia. The deputy minister briefed the president on the joint projects that are taking place on the basis of the cooperation agreement between China and Slovenia in the field of science and technology and stressed the successful cooperation of the two countries in this field. She also made the point that Slovenia’s experience, particularly with regard to the application of science and technology to environmental protection, is extremely valuable for China and that China also wishes to cooperate with Slovenia in other fields, particularly the economic field. President Drnovšek expressed his satisfaction that the two countries are cooperating well in the field of science and technology and stressed that, like China, Slovenia wishes to strengthen cooperation in all spheres. At the end of the talks the president expressed his hope that the Chinese delegation has found the visit useful.
